The cost estimate for
the 4-lane road in the Alta Vista Corridor is now at least $135
million.
To put things in perspective,
the existing O-train (shown in red on the left on the map) cost
$30 million to put in service. That's less than a quarter the cost
of this proposed roadway (in black on the right) and the O-train
transports more a people a greater distance than the proposed AVC
road will.
The train remains reliable
and on time because it is immune to traffic jams and accidents which
regularly disrupt both car and bus travel.
